Yanartaş

Beneath the flames of a burning mountain, stone remembers.

This image is a close encounter with a surface carved by elemental forces. What appears as a web of organic forms, fossil remains, or an unknown terrain is in fact a fragment of rock shaped in the presence of fire. The mountain burns, the stone endures, and between them a silent history is written in texture.

I am drawn to the tension between permanence and transformation. Stone suggests stability, yet every line, cavity, and fracture speaks of continuous change. Fire leaves its mark not only through destruction but through creation, revealing patterns that would otherwise remain hidden.

By removing color and isolating a small portion of the landscape, I invite the viewer into a world where scale dissolves and certainty disappears. The surface becomes a map of time, energy, and memory - a reminder that even the oldest materials carry the imprint of an active and restless earth.
